More about chryselephantine

Chryselephantine is based on Ancient Greek 釵堯娶聆莽籀莽, gold, and 梗梭矇梯堯櫻莽, elephant. Because of its similarity to Biblical Hebrew 域堯硃娶繳喧莽, gold, 釵堯娶聆莽籀莽 may have been borrowed from a Semitic language such as Phoenician. 楚梭矇梯堯櫻莽 may also be of Semitic origin. Chryselephantine was first recorded in English in the 1820s.

EXAMPLE OF CHRYSELEPHANTINE USED IN A SENTENCE

The chryselephantine statue of Athena glistened in the sunlight streaming through the temple.
