A name given by English miners to sphalerite, or zinc blende; Ð called also false galena.

There it forms a large deposit, in a granitic vein running through gneiss, and is accompanied by quartz, siderite, galena, blende, chalcopyrite, &c.

This ore is often found mixed with iron or copper pyrites, and sometimes with blende.

The ores are argentiferous galena, accompanied by considerable amounts of blende and pyrites, all oxidized near the surface.

Magnetic pyrites, copper pyrites, zinc blende and arsenical pyrites are other and less important examples, the last constituting the gold ore formerly worked in Silesia.
