Blue Peter, the longest-running children's show in the world, has recorded its final live episode as the show moves to a pre-recorded format, the BBC has confirmed.

The presenter was sacked from the show in the 1990s after admitting drug taking but returned for its 60th anniversary, receiving a famous Blue Peter badge.

Gethin Jones first came to the public's attention as a presenter for Blue Peter, went on to host The One Show, This Morning and is now a presenter on Morning Live.

Owners and trainers share their memories of the charity's early years in the town, including Blue Peter parties and sneaking into kennels to play with the puppies.

So a breeding programme began, masterminded by a Leamington kennel manager who would soon become familiar to generations of Blue Peter viewers.
