Walk into any bookshop and you’ll find that a good number of book covers feature Bodoni, a typeface created by Giambattista Bodoni in the late 18th century.

Any student of colophons — or of those pull-down menus listing digital typefaces — will recognize the name Bodoni, the 18th-century printer and immensely influential type designer.

Inspiration came from type fonts Didot and Bodoni, which he said had an appealing strength and sensitivity.
