There are many different types of vasculitis that go by different names, including Behcet's disease, Henoch-Schonlein purpura, Churg-Strauss syndrome, Buerger's disease, Cryoglobulinemia, Takayasu's arteritis, granulomatosis with polyangiitis, Kawasaki disease and giant cell arteritis.

During his second stint in prison he was diagnosed with Buerger’s disease, a rare circulatory disorder that led to the amputation of some of his fingers and toes.

His circulation is impacted by Buerger’s disease, from heavy smoking when he was younger.

Duterte has also said previously that he suffers from daily migraines and ailments including Buerger’s disease, an illness that affects the veins and the arteries of the limbs, and is usually due to smoking.

Duterte was himself a heavy smoker but quit when he was diagnosed as suffering from Buerger’s disease, which can cause blockages in the blood vessels.
