Canton flannel and bands, or tapes, should be inserted between split boards.

Canton flannel, quilted, three layers to a mat, is easily washed, and furnishes a great deal of protection.

If used with care, an undercloth of this kind will last a long time, and I have found Canton flannel much more satisfactory than felt.

Have a number of tea towels, cheesecloth dusters, Canton flannel bags for brooms, silverware towels, etc., cut and ready to hem.

Make of 8 pounds sugar and 2 quarts water a plain syrup; when nearly cold add 1 quart pure lemon juice; filter through a Canton flannel filter and bottle.
