Det Ch Insp Neil McGuinness said the killing of Mr Hamilton has "left an entire community in shock".

Ch Supt Dan Card from the Met, local policing commander for north-east London, said the force was committed to finding Kaliyah, and were using drone technology and boats as part of their "thorough search over a wide area".

Milton Keynes commander, Ch Supt Emma Baillie, said: "We understand that this incident may cause concern locally, but we would like to reassure the community that there is no wider risk to the public."

Det Ch Supt Neil Smithson's statement also acknowledged that Lorraine's experience with the Met's Professional Standards had been "prolonged and difficult, which has compounded her distress".

South Wales Police Det Ch Insp Dean Taylor said: "The investigation remains ongoing, and officers are continuing to work closely with G4S."
