She managed to save up about $4,200 before she took an even more extreme step: quitting her job and moving back in with her parents in Changsha, the capital of Hunan province.

The conversation heated up in the southern city of Changsha where the education department responded saying it will not install air cons so students can "cultivate the spirit of hard work and endurance".

In July this year, police said a vehicle crashed into a group of pedestrians in the central city of Changsha, killing eight people and injuring several others.

"Dramatic temperature changes in recent years have affected human health and caused widespread concern," said study author Quan Cheng, PhD, of Xiangya Hospital Central South University in Changsha, China.

The 24-year-old, from Changsha City in central China, had also not really paid much attention to news about the self-governing island, which her country believes is Chinese territory and has promised to take one day.
