US star Carpenter opened the awards show at The O2 in London on Saturday evening with a mash-up of her hits Espresso, Bed Chem with Rule Britannia!, while wearing a red sparkly military-style mini-dress with matching stockings and suspenders.

Sabrina Carpenter was the night's biggest star - opening the show with a cheeky wink, a phalanx of Beefeaters and a vaudevillian mash-up of Espresso, Bed Chem and... er, Rule, Britannia.

It's always difficult getting the tone of the opening performance right - but Sabrina Carpenter certainly nailed the brief with her mash-up of mega-hit Espresso and recent favourite from her best-selling album, Bed Chem.

Upon the August release of her album “Short n’ Sweet,” Carpenter’s fans were quick to point out apparent references to Keoghan — especially on the hit “Bed Chem,” which the actor professed to be his “fave” track.

My Chem, as the band is known among its fans, formed in 2001 in New Jersey and released a total of four studio albums — two of which sold more than a million copies each.
