Since 1984, American Rag Cie has been at the forefront of the L.A. vintage retail scene.

She created a signature candle, scented with notes of jasmine, with Melanie Apple Fields, a candlemaker who owns Studio City-based Voyage et Cie.

Lin and Chu became buyers for American Rag Cie, and Nguyen studied womenswear at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in San Francisco.

CIE Tours, which offers group trips in Iceland, Ireland, Italy and Britain, recommends tipping tour leaders and bus drivers the equivalent in local currency of roughly $7 to $10 each a day, depending on the location.

Her family’s roots go deep; her great-great-grandfather is Cie Frazier, the original drummer for Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
