He had been acting on “Bay City Blues,” an NBC comedy about a minor-league baseball team, when he got the call that he had landed the “Friday the 13th” role.

Woods’ “Inner City Blues,” the first in the Charlotte Justice series, was recently named by Time as one of the 100 Best Mystery/Thriller Books of All Time.

But besides absorbing all the Kansas City blues and the Kansas City swing, Bird was pretty eclectic.

Sporting a Gaye-esque beanie and backed by a dancing band, the Grammy nominee performed a crowd-pleasing mashup of the album’s title track and “Inner City Blues.”

“There’s no threat of a brawl,” laughed Scott Brokaw, vice chairman of Capital City Blues, the official D.C. supporters’ club for Manchester City.
