The “Lose Yourself” rapper made a surprise guest appearance Sunday, midway through 50 Cent’s concert in Eminem’s native Detroit, to perform the tracks “Patiently Waiting” and “Crack a Bottle.”

Collins has made herself a force in the state, showing up to crack crustaceans at lobster bakes or to crack a bottle of Champagne against the bow of a warship she sponsored at Navy shipbuilder Bath Iron Works.

The pairing was most intriguing early on, when the two merged their songs, forcing interaction and requiring them to have given thought to the points where they could find overlap: Rihanna singing the triumphant “Run This Town” while Eminem rapped the sneering “Renegade,” which worked; Rihanna singing the blank “Live Your Life” giving way to Eminem rapping the devious “Crack a Bottle,” which almost did.

Since then, Ms. Yee remembers only one other occasion when the six got together: To crack a bottle of Champagne at a millennium charity event.
