It was the BlackBerry, a device so addictive that it became known as the “CrackBerry” among tech nerds and power brokers hunched over a tiny keyboard that was best operated with both thumbs clickety-clacking.

Plans to resurrect the Blackberry brand with a new keyboard-equipped 5G Android device have been shelved, according to reports from AndroidPolice and CrackBerry.

CrackBerry reports that “multiple sources” have confirmed to the publication that “OnwardMobility and their BlackBerry 5G keyboard phone dream are dead.”

Kevin Michaluk, the founder of CrackBerry, a website and forum dedicated to the once-popular devices, waxed nostalgic on Monday about the rise and fall of the technology.
