Families in Wales are being "punished" by childcare bills for under-twos that are more than double the average of those in England, Oxfam Cymru has said.

In a debate discussing a proposed British Steel law to save a Scunthorpe plant, Plaid Cymru and Liberal Democrat MPs criticised the government's plans, saying it had failed to do the same for Port Talbot.

Plaid Cymru has accused the UK government of not fighting equally for Welsh communities after it revealed it was considering nationalising British Steel.

Jones was elected to the first Assembly as it then was in 1999, as the Plaid Cymru member for Ceredigion, a seat she has represented since.

The difficulties facing the canal were first outlined in a letter sent to local businesses by Glandŵr Cymru, the Canal and River Trust in Wales, in February.
