"The international coalition against Daesh does not limit itself to operations on the ground, but is also involved in the training of Iraqi forces, the sharing of information between partners, and the fight against terrorism funding," it said.

"France is ready for the international coalition against Daesh in which we are taking part for operations in Iraq and Syria to also fight against Hamas," he told reporters, referring to Islamic State.

What began as a major military operation that helped "deliver the military defeat of Daesh in Iraq and Syria", is now focusing on advising and assisting local partners, including with reconnaissance and intelligence, to ensure the group cannot reclaim lost ground, the coalition says on its website.

"We will implement our strategy of ending terror at its root with determination, and hold the PKK, FETO, and Daesh to account over every drop of blood they have spilled," he said, referring to Islamic State and the network of U.S.-based cleric Fethullah Gulen whom Ankara accuses of orchestrating a failed coup attempt in July 2016.

The Turkish Defense Ministry said on social media platform X that its minister Yasar Guler had told Austin that "Turkey is ready for a joint fight with the USA against Daesh."
