The Welsh Liberal Democrat leader Jane Dodds, who helped to pass the Welsh government's budget last month which included an extra £30m towards childcare, wants 30 hours of free childcare for all pre-school Welsh children from nine months old.

Graham Dodds, who teaches political science at Montreal’s Concordia University, said he has seen “a little uptick in good-natured ribbing from friends,” one of whom suggested he should pay an extra 25% of a recent bar tab — alluding to the Trump tariffs.

Their leader Jane Dodds said her deal to pass the Welsh government's budget last month showed she would not "play politics" with people's lives.

Dodds also refused to rule out Ed Davey-style stunts during the election campaign.

Dodds is the sole Liberal Democrat MS in the Senedd.
