Having completed the opening two rounds without dropping a shot, she bogeyed the sixth and ninth holes and carded a double bogey at the troublesome 14th, but rallied to close with three consecutive birdies.

First to fall was overnight leader Min Woo Lee, whose errant drive at the fifth ended in a double bogey and he never recovered, shooting a six-over 78.

McKibbin, who also started at the 10th, was only three off the lead after 14 holes following four birdies but a double bogey six at the sixth halted his momentum.

She then took four shots from the back of the green for a ruinous double bogey and then failed to capitalise on an accurate approach to the 16th.

That led to a double bogey which was followed by another dropped shot at the 17th.
