The Eiffel Tower, behind Zelensky in a picture window as we talked in one of Paris's great museums, was lit up in yellow and blue, the colours of the Ukrainian national flag.

"We're going to make the most of it. We just walked up to the Eiffel tower and are going to have a walk around the city, take our time and enjoy Paris," she said.

The medals were designed by French luxury jeweller Chaumet and are set with a piece of iron taken from the Eiffel Tower during its renovation in the 20th Century.
