Walter Ervine, 43, from Litchfield Street in Belfast, 42-year-old Robert Spiers from Millars Park in Dundonald and Glenn Rainey, 38, whose address was given as Ballyhalbert Caravan Park were convicted of murder last November.

Walter Ervine, 43, of Litchfield Street in Belfast, Glenn Rainey, 38, of Ballyhalbert Caravan Park, and Robert Spiers, 41, of Millars Park in Belfast, were on trial in a non-jury court.

The integrated Irish-medium school was established by the well-known Irish language activist Linda Ervine and will be the first school of its kind in east Belfast.

Irish language activist Linda Ervine, who helped set up the pre-school and sits on the school committee, said the site at Montgomery Road was a temporary plan.

Ms Ervine said numbers for new school had risen “quite dramatically in terms of expressions of interest from the local community”.
