A new short film challenging the much-maligned Essex girl stereotype has been shortlisted at a prestigious UK screen festival.

She added like every Essex girl she is a lover of a chippy at the end of a night out and always had a hankering for a battered sausage or saveloy.

"I think I was invited to this role partly because I'm an Essex girl and that is an identity that has not been celebrated," she said.

The TikTok trend - which has, confusingly, become known as the "Essex Girl" trend - sees people trying to mimic Millie and Sophie's make-up looks.

I think it's ironic that he was one of the greatest goalkeepers in the world and it was me, a little Essex girl, who managed to save a part of him.
