The former president of the Selena fan club was found guilty Monday of murdering the 23-year-old Tejano superstar, whose legions of fans cheered the verdict as a victory for the Latino community.

Killed by Yolanda Saldívar, the president of her fan club, on March 31, 1995, the Tejano star has been sanctified among Latinos as a folk hero and figure of eternal reverence.

Selena had confronted her once trusted employee and founder of her fan club about allegations of embezzlement.
