Three weeks ago, Palestinian film-maker Hamdan Ballal stood in front of the world's cameras in Hollywood, picking up an Oscar for best documentary film.

Emerson told BBC News that he and Edward Berger - the acclaimed German-Austrian film-maker whose 2022 adaptation of All Quiet on the Western Front was nominated for nine Academy Awards - aspired to make something that would replicate the 70s thrillers they grew up on.

The actors' attempt to bring theatre to the gaming world inspired Crane's wife, film-maker Pinny Grylls, to create a documentary called Grand Theft Hamlet.

The film-maker has described working on animation as "a huge treat and revelation for me", adding that the "whole process is so different from the other movies I’ve worked on".

The film-maker said keeping busy and doing simple things such as looking at clouds helps him feel better.
