Top Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien won the English Derby for a record-extending ninth time when Auguste Rodin reeled in King Of Steel to win the 244th edition of Britain’s richest flat race on Saturday.

In the keenly contested six-furlong Ayr Gold Cup, the richest flat race of the year in Scotland, the eight-year-old Summerghand surged in the final furlong to triumph by a length.

He was 18 when he won his first Epsom Derby, the most prestigious flat race in Britain, on the colt Never Say Die.

His horse Adayar won this year’s famous Epsom Derby flat race.

The Pantathlon comprised the running broad jump, throwing the javelin, best hand; 200 metre flat race, throwing the disc best hand, and 1,500 metres flat race.
