This year’s priority is detecting and controlling high-risk invasive species such as European frogbit, Japanese stiltgrass, giant hogweed and hemlock woolly adelgid.

Other grants will target aquatic invasive species including Eurasian watermilfoil, European frogbit and grass carp.

European frogbit is a free-floating plant with heart-shaped leaves resembling miniature water lilies.

Here and there float upon the surface the round leaves and delicate white blossoms of the frogbit, together with lilies, pondweeds, and water starworts.
