Over eight months, Turkey defeated an attack by navy ships from England and France trying to land soldiers in Gallipoli – now called Gelibolu.

The bridge, which runs from Gelibolu to Lapseki, was built by Turkish and South Korean companies working together.

It connects the town of Gelibolu, located in the European side of Turkey’s northwestern province of Canakkale, with the town of Lapseki on the Asian side.

But there is no more moving, even holy, site than what Turks call Gelibolu, named after the peninsula’s largest town.
