Aspinall, who had been seeking back-to-back European Tour wins after he lifted the European Darts Trophy in Gottingen last month, was unable to achieve that aim as Bunting took charge of the contest.

The team surveyed bee communities in 19 mainly disused quarries in the ��ö�ٳپ��Բ���� region using hand-held nets.

Dr Annika Haß and Professor Catrin Westphal at ��ö�ٳپ��Բ���� University's Functional Agrobiodiversity & Agroecology Research Group add: "In addition to these measures, high connectivity between quarries and neighbouring calcareous grasslands is crucial. This makes it easier for bees to move between the two habitats. Preserving and restoring nutrient-poor grasslands and maintaining quarries are good ways to support and conserve wild bees."

Co-author Dr Uwe Kaulfuss, of the University of ��ö�ٳپ��Բ���� in Germany and former postdoctoral fellow in the University of Otago's Department of Geology, discovered the tiny fossils during an excavation at Hindon earlier this year.

"We show that adult social play in chimpanzees can foster a range of cooperative behaviors, from dyadic interactions to complex, risky activities requiring the coordination of multiple individuals," says Liran Samuni of the German Primate Center in ��ö�ٳپ��Բ����, Germany, and the Taï Chimpanzee Project in Côte d'Ivoire.
