Legris, an experimental poet from the Canadian Midwest, here evokes the landscape through thickets of profuse language in which, for instance, grasscloth is “Handloomed broad-glumed brome” in “Yards and yards of yellow and yellow.”

Its value is hidden: Woven into a handloomed blanket are human ingenuity, patience, an understanding of materials and a dialogue of give-and-take with those materials.

But while the silhouette was refined and sensual, many of the fabrics were handloomed linens and denims.

The designer also uses organically grown wools in addition to handloomed cottons.
