Gov. Kathy Hochul has not weighed in on the QueensLink, though she has pushed for another project, the Interborough Express, a transit line that would connect Brooklyn and Queens.

Tom Wright, the association’s president, said that the rail line is unlikely to be reactivated anytime soon, since the transit authority has a long list of higher-priority projects, including the Interborough Express and extending the Second Avenue subway to East Harlem.

He praised Hochul and Adams for collaborating on a proposal to construct a new train linking Queens and Brooklyn called the Interborough Express.

Ms. Hochul has declared racism a public health crisis; proposed a $200 million fund to make the marijuana industry more equitable; and boosted the Interborough Express, a new rail line that would help bring service to poor people of color in transit deserts in Brooklyn and Queens.

As a result, Mr. Nadler’s interborough connection was pushed sharply north and rerouted to meander its way much less directly around the new 11th District, as well as Democratic districts held by Representatives Nydia Velazquez and Hakeem Jeffries in Red Hook, Fort Greene and Prospect Heights.
