Now Abner, the captain of Saul's host, had taken Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, and made him king over Israel.

At last Ish-bosheth, Saul's son, was murdered by two men who thought they would get reward from David.

Ish-bosheth was murdered as he "lay on a bed at noon," and Jezebel's prophets "called on the name of Baal from morning even unto noon."

And Ish-bosheth sent, and took her from her husband, even from Phaltiel, the son of Laish.

Afterwards Rechab and Baanah slew Ish-bosheth in his bedchamber and carried his head to David, who was so displeased that he caused them to be killed, and their hands and feet were cut off and hanged up by the pool in Hebron.
