A notice posted outside the No. 1 Intermediate Court in the Henan province city of Jiaozuo said Wang Yun’s sentence had been carried out on Thursday.

Wang Yun, 39, had unsuccessfully appealed the sentence, initially handed down in September 2020 by the Jiaozuo city intermediate people's court, in Henan province.

Wang Yun was accused in March 2019 of poisoning 25 young children in Jiaozuo city by tainting their breakfast with sodium nitrite, which can be deadly if consumed in large quantities, the BBC reported Tuesday.

On Monday a local court in Jiaozuo sentenced Ms Wang to death, reported the Global Times newspaper.

Wang Yun was arrested last year after children at a kindergarten in Jiaozuo city were rushed to hospital after eating their morning porridge.
