The family were taken along with the father, Yarden, from kibbutz Nir Oz when hundreds of Hamas gunmen burst through the border with Israel and attacked communities, security forces sites and a music festival.

Lianne grew up in Staple Hill, on the outskirts of Bristol, and first moved to Israel as a volunteer on a kibbutz when she was 19, before relocating to the country permanently.

As their kibbutz was attacked, Emily sent a text message containing a single heart emoji.

It said the man had taken part in an attack on the kibbutz of Nir Oz, though added that it was "not possible to link the terrorist to a specific abduction attempt".
