In Belfast, Lord Mayor Micky Murray officially opened the book while Fr Tim Bartlett, the main organiser of the late Pope's visit to Ireland in 2018, was in attendance.

Lord Mayor of Belfast Cllr Micky Murray said he is "delighted" the event will be held in Belfast.

A former lord mayor of the city, Tom Hartley, and current councillor, Tracy Kelly, also believe something should be done to remember the dead.

His children were invited to the Lord Mayor's children's party.

The Lord Mayor of London, accompanied by army officers, personally ripped down festive decorations from the doors of homes and churches, only to be set upon by jeering crowds that caused his horse to bolt.
