West Ham captain Dagny Brynjarsdottir has had two boys - the club released a documentary on her journey this year - while Everton's Duggan became the first high-profile English player to become a mother when she gave birth to daughter Luella in March 2023.

She survives him, as do four children from his first marriage, Maggie Shipman, Katie Smith, Fischer Oesterle and Emma Oesterle; a stepdaughter, Kayla English; a daughter from his second marriage, Luella Oesterle; two brothers, Eric and Dale; two sisters, Elizabeth and Mary Ellen Oesterle; and three grandchildren.

Then, basking in the shrinking sliver of sunlight, Tara D’cruz-Noble, Bob Mackintosh and their children, Eliah and Luella, lay down on the silvery sand and removed their eclipse glasses.

Ms. D’cruz-Noble hugged Luella, then ran her hands up and down her arms.
