Over 17 years of field work with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Mr. White fitted radio collars on 421 goats in the Klukwan, Lynn Canal, Baranof Island and Cleveland Peninsula regions of southeastern Alaska.

“I think this is going to be a big positive for Southeast Alaska. We’re going to have better service up Lynn Canal and better service to the surrounding communities,” said Sam Dapcevich, a spokesperson for the Alaska Marine Highway System.

For now, the Hubbard will be used just for sailings up the Lynn Canal from Juneau to Haines and Skagway.

When they finally arrived, Milos, her husband and their cat, Squeaks, were only 70 miles from home in Haines, a small community up the Lynn Canal from Juneau.

It cites data that indicated increasing the number of sailings in Lynn Canal in southeast Alaska had appeared to increase revenue more than it increased costs.
