Korey Ewen, 23, of Maple Grove, has been charged with his murder and is due to appear before magistrates in Sheffield on Monday.

Officers were called to a property in Maple Grove at 21:29 GMT on Thursday.

According to police in Thompson's hometown of Maple Grove, Minnesota, there had previously been one suspicious incident at his home in 2018.

Mr. Thompson, who was 50, lived with his wife, Paulette Thompson, and their younger son, Dane, in Maple Grove, Minn. An older son, Bryce, is a college freshman.
