The wife of slain Cal Fire Capt. Rebecca Marodi was arrested Saturday in Mexicali and transferred to U.S. marshals in San Diego, where she will be booked on suspicion of murder, authorities said.

Carrera and her two daughters, 20 and 11, had an appointment to present their asylum claims at the Mexicali border on Feb. 3.

By the next afternoon, the two men had been deported to Mexicali.

“That effectively waived their rights to a hearing or due process or legal representation, and allowed the Border Patrol to dump them in Mexicali,” he said.
