Los Four, Ramirez says, “are pulling from a lot more heritage and cultural practices. I’m thinking about the mixed media that they use, found objects, the quoting of cultural heritage, some of the Indigeneity. They’re responding to much of the visual politics, visual rhetoric from the farmworkers’ movement, as well as the Vietnam protests.”

Using her living room as a studio, she creates her paintings using old photos which "get reimagined" using charcoal and acrylic and occasionally mixed media such as spray paint and pastels.

The MAC3 collection stands at 356 paintings, sculptures and mixed media works, and every other year new pieces will be added from future “Made in L.A.” biennials.

An additional 16 pieces have been added to the collection from “Made in L.A. 2023” by curators from all three museums — for a total of 356 paintings, sculptures and mixed media works.
