He swapped his longtime family home in New Albany, Ohio, for a 9-acre estate in San Diego County, California, that had been listed for just over $8 million.

The funding will establish two advanced plants in New Albany, Ohio, which is just outside the state capital of Columbus.

A native of New Albany, Penn., Billy Spillers enlisted in the Navy in 2002 and served aboard the USS Stout and the USS Momsen.

Born May 16, 1947, the Louisville, Ky., native began his career at a tiny radio station in New Albany, Ind., and joined NPR as a newscaster in 1974 during the Nixon impeachment and Watergate hearings.

A&F, based in New Albany, Ohio, declined to comment Friday.
