The main character is Bobby Nusku, a 12-year-old boy in England whose beloved mother died in a car crash long ago.

In addition to the god Sin, the above extract refers to the deity known as Nusku, as being venerated there.

To the north were the chapels of Ea and Nusku, and to the south those of Anu and En-lil, while westward was the temple of Merodach himself.

The reading of the god's name, however, is corrupt, since no such deity was known to the Assyrians, and it is possible that Nusku, the companion of Nebo, the patron of literature, is intended.

The element was, of course, associated with heaven, and the fire-god under the name of Gibil or Nusku was termed the “son of Anu.”
