The play has elements of Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town” and “The Skin of Our Teeth” and echoes of contemporary plays, such as Julia Cho’s “Aubergine” and Eboni Booth’s “Primary Trust.”

His sons are clutching a placard that says, "Our town, our jobs, our futures".

“Pickleball is a life-changing sport for so many that brings community together, and I’m committed to creating more recreational opportunities for our town.”

Scott Shepherd, an ERS mainstay who was not only part of the ensemble but also co-directed with John Collins and served as dramaturg, introduced the proceedings in an impishly folksy manner reminiscent of the Stage Manager in Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town.”

The company, which has received £200,000 in transition funding from Arts Council Wales, has also announced a Welsh spin on the classic American play Our Town, with Doctor Who writer Russell T Davies as a creative associate.
