Team-mate Ama Pipi progressed to the semi-finals as a non-automatic qualifier, but the 29-year-old did not make the final after finishing fifth in 52.29secs in the evening session.

The mixed team of Brodie Young, Ama Pipi, Charles Dobson and Laviai Nielsen were third in their heat, behind winners Ireland and Belgium.

That depth was shown when Lina Nielsen, Laviai Nielsen, Ama Pipi and Jessie Knight set a new British record time as they claimed bronze in the 4x400m relay final at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow earlier this month.

But it was the relay final and the chance to at last represent GB alongside her twin sister Lina that arguably meant far more to Laviai - especially when, alongside Ama Pipi and Jessie Knight, they made the podium.

Ama Pipi and Jessie Knight brought GB home in a national record 3:26.36.
