China’s central bank opted to keep its one-year policy loan interest rate at 2.5% on Monday while injecting funds into the financial system.

Banks were also told to keep interest rates relatively stable ahead of the central bank's medium-term policy loan operations.

The sources described the disbursement as a "topping up" that would effectively double a $350 million Development Policy Loan granted to Ukraine on Dec. 17 to support reforms to foster more competition in the economy, land reforms and access to credit for small farmers.

Funds from the development policy loan would help bridge a financing gap stemming from additional spending on the COVID-19 crisis, he added.
