In 2020, the two men used a robo caller to contact over 85,000 voters in predominantly Black neighborhoods across Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Ohio, warning them not to vote by mail.

Stewart began the episode with a segment on AI: starting with deepfake photos of both presidential candidates skewing people's realities, robo calls of President Joe Biden telling people not to vote during Super Tuesday, and even digitally altered photos of Donald Trump campaigning with Black and brown communities.

Soon after it secured permits to operate robo taxis in California, a series of high-profile collisions led to state regulators halting operations.

The released data could easily be flawed because in order to accurately compare robo taxis with humans, it’s necessary to account for how many miles are being driven and under what conditions—data that simply do not exist.

Unlike those vehicles, which require a human driver to oversee control at all times, robo taxis demonstrate what’s often called “Level 4” autonomy: they can navigate a predetermined area without a person monitoring and managing each movement from behind a steering wheel.
