“For God’s sake, don’t let SCE get another unwarranted rate hike,” wrote Randy Nakashima of Yorba Linda, in one of more than a hundred comments filed opposing the request.

“By allowing SCE to raise rates in order for customers to cover these damages, we are failing to hold them accountable,” seven state legislators from Southern California wrote to the commission after the vote.

At least one lawsuit filed against SCE included photos of the tower with four feet of exposed grounding wire protruding from the steep hillside.

“SCE’s initial rebuilding plan will underground electrical distribution infrastructure where practical and make the most of breakthrough technologies to reduce wildfire risk,” said Pedro Pizarro, CEO of Edison International, SCE’s parent company.

“SCE will build back a resilient, reliable grid for our customers,” said Southern California Edison CEO Steven Powell.
