The bill aims to strengthen workers' rights in areas including unfair dismissals, flexible working and sick pay.

More than one million low-paid workers in the UK are to be entitled to 80% of their weekly salary as sick pay from the first day of illness, under government plans.

This means while they might work to a salon's rules and be treated like an employee, they're actually self-employed so miss out on benefits like sick pay, maternity pay and pensions.

They want it addressed in the Employment Rights Bill, currently undergoing parliamentary scrutiny, and claim some of their members are putting off treatment as sick pay is much lower than their usual salaries.

The union also stated the car manufacturer was wrong for wanting to introduce 100% performance-related pay and to change the policy on sick pay.
