The wife of a slain fire captain was arrested in Mexico over the weekend and pleaded not guilty to a charge of first-degree murder.

Some of those suggested improvements — such as expanding de-escalation policies and training deputies to better identify people with mental health conditions — mirror issues the slain man’s family raised in a lawsuit filed late last year.

The wife of slain Cal Fire Capt. Rebecca Marodi was arrested Saturday in Mexicali and transferred to U.S. marshals in San Diego, where she will be booked on suspicion of murder, authorities said.
