Shoka Åhrman, an economist at one of Sweden’s largest pension funds, SPP, says she does not believe enough Swedish girlfriends or wives will quit work for it to have an impact on the country’s economy.

They have potential to at least partially predict resistance drivers across other closely related species posing significant health risks, including Pseudomonas, Salmonella and Klebsiella spp. all difficult-to-treat bacterial pathogens linked to serious and sometimes deadly infections.

"In the Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Area rafts are commonly comprised of Sargassum spp., a species of macroalgae that grows abundantly on coral reefs but that sometimes detaches from the seafloor during storms," said lead researcher Professor Kylie Pitt, Coastal & Marine Research Centre and the Australian Rivers Institute.

Under normal conditions, the floating macroalgae Sargassum spp. provide habitat for hundreds of types of organisms.

The multidisciplinary team identified the chloroplast plant protein SPP as the reason why plants are unaffected by the problematic human protein.
