Now, East made a takeout double; South redoubled to indicate a good overcall; West advanced with two no-trump to show both minors with longer diamonds; and North at last jumped to four hearts.

Today, many Wests would overcall one heart with two clubs or make a takeout double and probably reach three clubs, which is laydown.

West made a takeout double, Rubin raised to five diamonds, and East doubled to show some cards.

South’s balancing takeout double followed by a one-no-trump rebid showed the values for a good strong-no-trump opening.
