We don’t see the thought process of the person who has to announce it, and it fits the novel, for sure, but I always thought that this had to be the hardest thing to ever have to tell someone, and I was interested in exploring what would go through one’s head in a moment like this.

“While drawing, one is obliged to examine every millimetre, the texture and suppleness of the tissues one is about to rearrange. And it also gives one a few moments to plan the surgery, running it through one’s head like choreography steps.”

Most of all, one is reminded, with the score of “Hamilton” running relentlessly through one’s head, that all of the players in this drama are again alive because a remarkable artist made them live again.

They were like the streams of silly words that run through one's head in a fever, or half-way along the road to sleep; and it was an eternity before they meant anything.

Later on, when Avr�hom has got to know the dog, he will even take him into the orchard, but the first time there is a certain risk—one has to know a dog, otherwise it barks, and Avr�hom dreads a bark worse than a bite—it goes through one's head!
