Speaking in Tigrinya - a language spoken in Ethiopia and Eritrea - the man said they left Libya five days ago and that the dinghy they were travelling on capsized.

One Eritrean refugee, who wished to remain anonymous for safety reasons, said he was arrested after someone heard him speaking Tigrinya - a language used in Eritrea, as well as Ethiopia's Tigray region.

"One of the major issues is the majority of this content is being produced, written in our local language, which is Amharic and also sometimes Afaan Oromoo and Tigrinya," says Gezahegn, explaining why it took so long to have the content identified and removed.

But “knowing how to say your language — if you can say ‘Tigrinya’ or ‘Korean’ — that makes everybody’s jobs a million times easier.”

"I know Facebook says that it has moderators who focus on Ethiopia, who are Amharic speakers and Tigrinya speakers, but we don't know how many. And they are not even working from Ethiopia, they are working in Kenya."
